Aim-

For this project of Rear view mirror component, we have to check for the geometrical errors in geometry and mesh the Surfaces with the given 2D element trai elements with given quality criteria and then to generate 3D tetra mesh and satisfy quality criteria.

2D Quality Criteria-

3D Quality Criteria

Procedure-

  • We start with the model import i.e to open the model in ANSA software for that go to file>>open>>file location>>select file >>hit open.

  • Now we have to check the model geoemtry for that go to tools>>check>>geometry>>hit ok. A new window will open click execute and it will run the check window if there is any error it will show the errors or say geometry is ok.
  • If errors are found then right click on edges>>click on fix and error will be fixed.

  • There is all 4 parts are there in the component.

Part-1

Part-2

Part-3

Part-4

  • Before heading to mesh we have to set element size, for that go to utilities>>mesh parameters>>set the values as per below snap.

  • Now we have to set quality criteria for taht again go to utilities>>quality criteria(F11 key)and set quality criteria.

  • To set all the cons and node to required elemnt length go to mesh>>perimeters>>length>>select all cons and set the size as 1 hit ok.
  • Now we have to mesh the component Using Tria elements.

Note- For Curvature and fillets we have go for Ortho trai element and for flat surfaces we have to select we have to select trai element.

  • If elements are failing for quality critera we have to reconstruct, smooth, split command to romove them.

  • Now for 3D-mesh we have to go to volume mesh.
  • For generating mesh we have to generate volume for and then ew have to go for mesh, for that go to volumes>>define>>Manual>>select all elements>>manual and volume will be generated.
  • select mesh type as terta rapid and mesh will be generated.
  • This procedure will be repeated for all remaining elelments.

Learning Outcome-

  • Learnt about shell meshing using trai elements and where to use which tria type surface wise.
  • Generation of 3D-tetra mesh technique and quality criteria clearance.

Conclusion-

We have not only created 2D-mesh and satisfied quality criteria but also generated 3D tetra mesh with quality criteria satisfaction.
