    Aim: To perform topological clean-up, and carry out the surface meshing of a BMW M6 car model and create a wind tunnel surrounding the same.

    Objectives:

    For the given model, check and solve all geometrical errors on half portion and Assign appropriate PIDs. Perform meshing with the given Target length and element Quality criteria. After meshing the half model, Do symmetry to the other side.

    1. Target lengths for the different parts of a model are as follow:
    2. Body - 3 mm
    3. Lights - 4 mm
    4. Grills - 1 mm
    5. Rims and Tyres - 2 mm
    6. Optical Rear view mirror - 2 mm
    7. Window - 2 mm
    8. Silencer - 3 mm
    9. Logo - 1 mm

    Procedure:

    Check Geometry error and cleanup

    • Open Ansa Software and load given geometry
    • Checking Doule coons and triple coons
    • Symmetry check
    • Surface fine ness checking
    • Makes surfaces and geometry smooth by usng fine tool or classic
    • Deleting half body excluding Car logo
    • Checking geometry
    • exploring geometry errors
    • Exploring penetration errors
    • Deleting some surfaes to avoid triple coons

     

    Parts for geometry cleanup (Before and after)

    • Grills

     

    • Rims and Tyres 

     

    • Optical Rear view mirror 

     

    • Silencer 

     

    • Logo 

     

    • Body 

    Assigning PDI's

     

    Surface meshing

    Total meshing

    Applying symmetry

    One last error check

     

    Creating Tunnel

     

    Defining volume

     

    Volume Mesh that needs to be created
