- Assign the support for the desired nodes
5. Name any five topics that you will include while creating DBR.
Name and location of the project
Introduction to the construction methodology
Structural layout
Method of analysis and code reffered
Quality assurance and Quality controal
6. Describe the term “Multi material design” of STAAD Pro.
- The term multimaterial design is used to define the structure which is design by using one or more structural material
- For Example :- A building is designed by RCC as well as the steel strctures
3.
1. Name the structure systems in STAAD Pro? Explain each system?
- Plane frames :- Plane frames are typical RCC or steel frames system adopted for building construction
- Trusses:- Trusses are constructed by structural elements in triangular formate to take both tension and compression
- Space frames :- Space frames are 3-Dimensional truss like structure designed to carry loads for longer span without intermediate supports.
2. Explain the coordinate system adopted in STAAD Pro software.
The coordinate system that are adopted in STAAD.Pro software are X,Y,Z coordinates
In General the coordinate system adopted in STAAD.Pro software are
- Global axis :- Mainly Global axis are fixed in the coordinate system
- Local axis :- Local axis is variable in nature. We can change the local axis but not global axis
3. Elaborate DBR and its uses.
DBR means Design brief report
DBR (Design brief report) is a project management document which consists of various information regarding the construction of the structures. This DBR is a detailed report which tells minute details about the on going construction. This report is basically consists of all the majour and important structural details which is relavent to the project details like Name and location of the project, Introduction to the construction methodology, Structural layout, Method of analysis and code reffered, Quality assurance and Quality controal and other issues.

- Direct analysis
- Push over analysis
5. Explain the difference between Fixed and Fixed But condition.
Fixed condition:- It is a condition where all the degree of freedom that is horizontal, vertical and moments are fixed these conditions are restrained and we can't change anything.
Fixed But condition:- In this conndition the condition may customized it's end condition and we have a option to release some degree of freedom
Practical
1. Create a STAAD Model with the following Specification
a. A beam of span 16m
b. Support : Fixed on one end and Roller support(Horizontal) on the other end
c. A point load of 50 kN at the mid-point
d. Draw SFD and BMD using software
Aim:- To create a beam having a span of 16m with the STAAD.Pro software, provide fixed support at one end and fixed support at other end and draw SFD and BMD diagrams using STAAD.Pro software
Introduction :-
STAAD.Pro
- STAAD Pro is one of the popular software that are used for the analysis and design structures like building, towers, Industries, Bridges etc.,
- STAAD Pro stand for Structural Analysis and Design Program
- This software deals with Civil Engineer and Structural Engineer
- They are authorized dealers of Bently System India Pvt.Ltd
- STAAD.Pro helps structural engineer to perform 3D structural analysis and design for both steel and concret structures
- If the design is done in physical model then it can be transformed in to analytical model
Procedure:-
Step1:-
- Open the STAAD software by double clicking on it
- Then the stratup file opens
- Click on New option then the screen appears like this
- Give the file name which you want and give the location of where you wnat to save by clicking on the browser option
- Then select the units as a metric
- Then click on the create

Step2:-
- After clicking on the create option the screen will looks like this
- It includes several parameters like Geometry, Properties, Materials, Specification, Supports, Loading, Analysis, Design

a. Beam of span 16m
Step3:-
- In this software first we have to provide the grids to the beam for the reference
- Click on the Grid ribbon tab then you will find the grids option click the below arrow then we can see 3 options
- Select the beam grid option then the grids will appears

Step4:-
- When we click on the beam grids then we will see the grids with smaller spacing
- Then we should go to the edit option
- Change the construction lines numbers and change the spacing
- Then click on OK

Step5:-
- After changing the grid lines and spacing
- Draw the beam having a 16m span

Step6:-
- Here the node number is not visible then we have to click our mouse right button
- Then go to the lables
- Then diagram dialouge box opens here select the node number then click on apply and click on OK

Step7:-
- After applying the node number
- The nodes will looks like this

Step8:-
- After creating the beam we have to give the property for the beam
- Click on the property tab then the property dilaouge box opens
- Then click on define to provide the material property

Step9:-
- After clicking on the define option
- Then select the rectangular size and material as concrete and size as 0.23m x 0.23m
- Then click on Assign

Step10:-
- Now we have to assign the material to the beam
- Click on the material tab then the material dialouge box opens
- In default it's in isotropic keep it as it is
- Select the concrete and click on the member to assign it

Step11:-
- After the assigning the materials then go to the supports
- Then the suppoirt dialouge box opens then click on create option
- Then the create support dialouge box opens
- Here we have to provide the fixed and roller support
- First select the fixed tab then click on add

Step12:-
- After the click on add then the support appears on the suppport dialouge box
- Select the assign option then click on the node which you want to assign the fixed support
- Then click on Esc button

Step13:-
- Again click on add button to add another support
- After the click on add then the support appears on the suppport dialouge box
- Here we are providing the roller support
- To assign the roller support go to the fixed but option then release the Fx and Mz option then click on add

Step14;-
- Select the assign option then click on the node which you want to assign the roller support (Fixed but)
- Then click on Esc button

Step15:-
- After assigning teh support next assign loads for the beam
- We have to provide the 50KN force at the mid of the beam (Mentioned in the question)
- To assign the loads go to the loading tab
- First assign the load cases
- Select the load cases details then click on the add button

Step16:-
- After clickin on the add button
- Then the load cases dialouge box opens then select the primary in the left corner
- Select the loading type as dead then click on add button

Step17:-
- After clicking on the add button then select the load case 1
- Then click on add

Step18:-
- After selecting add option then add new dialouge box opens then select the primary member in that select the concentrated force
- Where P = 50KN, d1 = 8m, d2 = 0m
- Then click on add

Step19:-
- In this model I have to provide concentrated load but due to some problem the concentrated load is not assigning so I have assigned a nodal load at the mid point
- Select the assign to selected view then click on assign
- Then the 50KN is assigned to the mid of the beam

Step20:-
- After assigning the load to the beam
- Go to the analysis tab then click on the define command
- Then the analysis command dialouge box opens then click on add then close it

Step21:-
- After adding the analysis command to the beam
- Then Run the analysis by clicking on the Run analysis tab or use a ctrl+F5 button

Step22:-
- After clickin on the Run analysis then wait for the analysis
- Here the error, warnings and notes should be zero
- Then click on the done button

Step23:-
- After the analysis we need to see the result of displacement and shear force
- Click on the Go to post processing mode
- Then click on done

Step24:-
- After the clicking on done then we get the result set up dialouge box
- In default the envelop of load cases in selected list is selected
- Select the "1 Load case 1" in the selected column
- Then click on apply

Step25:-
- In default we see the displacement of the beam
- The result values are displayed at the right side of the screen
- If in case you are not visible the displacement properly then you should scale the displacement force
- We go to displacement force by right clicking mouse right button then go to the lables then go to the scale then you will get the displacement force

Step26:-
- After checking the result of displacement of the beam
- Go to the beam result then you will see the shear force
- The result values are displayed at the right side of the screen
- If in case you are not visible the shear force properly then you should scale the bending Z
- We go to bending Z by right clicking mouse right button then go to the lables then go to the scale then you will get the bending Z

Result:-
- Analysis results of Displacement and Shear force are cheked by using a STAAD.Pro software
- The displacement value by using a displacement result is -0.369m
- The shear force value for the beam by using a beam result 34.374 is maximum and 15.626 is the minimum
