Week 01 - Fundamental Aspects of Pipe Racks

  • In this session, you will learn
    • Introduction to STAAD.Pro
    • The geometry, application of properties, and material in STAAD.Pro for closed structure pipe rack
    • The load applications in STAAD.Pro for closed structure pipe rack
    • Computing the results and performing trial and error design for closed structure pipe rack
    • The design of pedestal and foundation (typical)
    • The design of the base plate and preparation of the report

    • Different types of loads such as thermal loads, friction loads etc. acting on the closed pipe rack
    • Geometry preparation
    • Application of properties and materials in STAAD.Pro for closed structure pipe rack.

Week 06 - STAAD.Pro for Closed Pipe Racks-phase 2 (Load application)

  • In this session, you will learn
    • The load applications in STAAD.Pro for closed structure pipe rack
    • The analysis of closed structure pipe rack

Week 07 - STAAD.pro for Closed Pipe Racks-phase 3 (Result computation)

  • In this session, you will learn
    • To compute results
    • To apply a trial and error approach for the design to arrive at the best outcome

Week 08 - STAAD.Pro for Open Pipe Racks-phase 1(Geometry Prep)

  • In this session, you will learn
    • Environmental loads such as wind loads, and external temperature loads acting on an open pipe rack structure

Modelling of a closed pipe rack situated in Ahmedabad

A closed pipe rack has to be modelled incorporating the concepts learned in this course, using STAAD.Pro software. The students will be given dimensions for the design and taking those design considerations into account, the students will have to complete the project and submit the report.

Modelling of an open pipe rack situated in Chennai

An open pipe rack is modelled according to Chennai conditions. The students will be given dimensions for the design and taking gravity, lateral, thermal and friction loads into account, the students will have to complete the project and submit the report.
