NX CAD is one of the most popular tools for Computer-Aided Engineering. NX CAD has an inbuilt library that allows design engineers to develop accurate designs with flexibility.
You must clear a technical interview round as your first step to becoming a design engineer. Go through the below-provided interview questions on NX CAD and ace your next interview.
Answer: Constraint is a restriction or limitation that is placed on an object or system. In the context of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software, constraints are used to limit the degree of freedom of an object and restrict its movement. They represent mounts and supports and can be applied to the faces or edges of the object. This helps ensure that the object is accurately described and its structural integrity is maintained.
There are two types of constraints:
Answer: Sketching creates a 2D design by drawing lines on a plane. To do this, we need to choose a plane to draw on, a sketching plane. This can be a face or a datum plane used to define the sketching environment.
Answer: The Gateway Application in Unigraphics is the starting point for accessing all the other applications. It provides a graphical user interface that allows users to access and launch the various Unigraphics functions, such as Modeling, NX Sheet Metal, Shape Studio, Drafting, Manufacturing, and Assemblies. The Gateway Application provides access to other settings and utilities for manipulating Unigraphics.
Answer: The Master Model Concept is an approach to product design and development that uses a single model for all process stages, from conceptual design to drafting, assembly, analysis, and manufacturing. With this concept, any changes made to the Master Model are automatically reflected in all other applications, providing a streamlined and efficient way to create a product.
Answer: Teamcenter is a Product Data Management (PDM) software that helps organizations effectively manage the design, development, analysis, and manufacturing of products throughout the product life cycle. It enables users to streamline processes, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
Answer: To convert a file created in millimeters (mm) to inches in UG, use the ug_convert_part command at the command prompt. For example, to convert the file 1234.prt, type the following command at the prompt: ug_convert_part -in 1234.prt. We need to save the file in the same location as the command prompt (e.g. C:/users/username).
Answer: User Defined Feature (UDF) is a CAD software feature allowing users to create custom design elements. This can be used to automate design elements, such as creating objects of different sizes in a single file. UDFs can be added to target solids to define their shape and function and create feature libraries to meet specific user needs.
Answer: Expressions are mathematical or conditional equations used to regulate model parameters. We can make large changes to a model using expressions by modifying the expressions that govern a single parameter. Arithmetic, Conditional, and Geometric Expressions are the three types of expressions.
Performing mathematical operations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing are all part of arithmetic expressions. Conditional Expressions are used to evaluate a statement and return a value dependent on whether the information is true or false. Geometric Expressions entail altering 3D objects by rotating, scaling, and morphing them.
Answer: Direct modeling, or synchronous modeling, is a type of CAD software that provides users with extended capabilities for basic Unigraphics functions. These capabilities include face-oriented operations, constraint-based methods, blend regeneration, and feature history independence. Direct modelling functions can be used on non-parametric models imported from other CAD systems.
Answer: We can create a mosquito coil using the Sweep Along Guide command in 3D modeling software. First, project an inclined helix curve to the bottom plane. Finally, use the Sweep Along Guide command to create the mosquito coil.
Answer: Datum Plane is a feature used in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software as a reference or starting point for building a model. It provides a consistent reference point from which measurements and dimensions can be taken, ensuring that the model is built accurately and consistently.
Answer: Datum Axis is a reference object used to create other objects in 3D modeling. It can be either relative or fixed and is used to create Datum planes, revolved features, and extruded bodies.
Answer: Weight management is calculating and controlling the weight and other mass properties of parts, components, and assemblies based on the solid bodies they contain. It helps ensure that parts meet design, performance, and safety requirements, as well as managing the cost of manufacturing and shipping.
Answer: Knowledge Fusion is an application in Unigraphics NX that enables users to leverage engineering knowledge to drive rules and design intent for their geometric models and assemblies. It provides a graphical user interface to make it easier to apply this knowledge.
Answer: Para solid is a translator that converts higher version Unigraphics part files to lower versions. For example, it can convert a part file from NX7.5 to NX4.
